The project brief for this studio was to expand and consolidate the campus of the Do­minican University College (DUC), an affiliate of Carleton University with a focus on philosophy and theology. Adjacent to downtown and between several neighbourhoods, the DUC is a well-established institution within a changing community. The challenge of this project was sensitivity in designing both a highly specific and rarified place. The endeavor was to design a respectful campus that expands the DUC as a public institution while retaining privacy as a place of worship and scholarship.
